Fields Generally Used: Weekday games are played at Parmenter Field.  Weekend games are played at King Street Memorial Field and Fletcher Field.

Number of Games: Varies based on the number of teams in the league.

Duration of Season: April through June including holiday weekends; generally weeknights and weekends.

How Teams are Selected: Double A is a draft division. Players do not try out, a skill session is held for this group in early March.

Basic Skill Focus/expectations: Players will continue to develop in all aspects of the game. Outfielders will learn to hit the cutoff man, defensive players should learn to move on the pitch and all players should learn to move at the crack of the bat.  Bunting and base stealing will also be introduced and emphasized in game situations.

Difference from Single A: Stealing bases is not limited to one per inning.  Runners are permitted to steal home. Strength and bat speed increases so hits are spread around the field. Pitching speed increases as well as accuracy.  Skill positions such as first base, catcher, shortstop and centerfield are more prominent.

Important
Hitting: A full batting roster is used in every game. Bats must be “Little League” approved. Infield fly rule is introduced.

Base Running / Run Scoring: Stealing is allowed.  Runners may not leave their base until the ball crosses the plate.  Runners must slide to avoid contact. Head first slides allowed only while returning to a base. Once a ten run lead has been achieved, there will be no stealing of bases or advancing on passed balls or wild pitches by the team with the lead. If the lead falls below ten runs, normal play will resume until the point where a ten run differential may be attained again. Only three advancements from third base to home are allowed on a pitched ball per inning, regardless of wild pitch, passed ball or a ball thrown back from the catcher to the pitcher.

Pitching: A pitcher may pitch no more than three innings in a game or six in a week. One pitch thrown constitutes an official appearance.  One full days rest is required between games pitched. The pitching week begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday. Curve balls are not allowed.  Balks are not called.  Once a player has been removed as a pitcher, he/she may not pitch again in that game.

Playing Time / Positions Played: All games are six innings in length. Nine defensive positions are played. To the extent possible, all players play a minimum of four defensive innings per game and at least two innings in the infield. In the event a team has 13 players, each player shall play a minimum of three defensive innings. Free substitutions are allowed during all games.

Playoff Format: Playoffs are meant to determine the town champion.  Unlike Single A, not every team makes the playoffs.  Depending upon the size of the league, a playoff format is developed that ensures that a sufficient number of teams are involved. All playoff games are single elimination. Regular season rules apply in the playoffs.
