Past Meeting Minutes...
“The one constant through all the years, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is part of our past…. It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again.” James Earl Jones, Field of Dreams
The Town of Franklin Earth Day Celebration is planned for Saturday, April 19th. Anyone interested in volunteering to clean up targeted areas in Franklin and assisting with planting flowers and shrubs around town are encouraged to meet at the Beaver Pond parking lot at 10 a.m. While this is not a Franklin Youth Baseball event, FYBO would like to encourage all members to lend support. Without the efforts of the Town of Franklin our fields would not be in the excellent shape they are in for baseball. This is a great way to give back. Please bring your own gloves and rakes. Free pizza and beverages will be provided for all volunteers. There are also a number of activities planned. For more information, click here to email the Franklin Earth Day Committee or check out the Franklin Recreation Dept. web site.

"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." Rogers Hornsby
PLAY BALL OPENING DAY APRIL 26TH The spring 2008 season begins Saturday, April 26 with the traditional Opening Day Parade for league ages 7 through 12. All teams from Rookie League through the Majors/AAA will gather at Davis Thayer beginning at 9:30 am. The parade will kick off at 10 am proceeding downtown and ending at the newly renovated Fletcher 1 diamond at Fletcher Field. Help celebrate the first event on this field in nearly two years. The Opening Day ceremonies will include the recognition of four past members of Franklin Youth Baseball whose many contributions have left a lasting impression on the organization. The snack stand will be open and offering a new and improved menu. Tickets for the Bill Capen Jr. Memorial Golf Classic and the FYBO Beach Party will be available for purchase.
Also on Opening Day, Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Ferrara’s Market will be celebrating the beginning of the Baseball season with FYBO Day featuring cold drinks and breakfast sandwiches. 25% of the proceeds from sales will go to Franklin Youth Baseball. Ferrara’s is located on the Parade route at 20 West Central Street, so please stop by, have some breakfast before the parade, buy a cold drink for your favorite ballplayer and help support FYBO.
Fundraising Events The 10th Bill Capen Jr. Memorial Golf Scholarship Tournament will be held at the beginning of the baseball season on May 12th at Wentworth Hills Country Club in Plainville MA. Proceeds from this annual tournament support the FYBO Scholarship program which provides four scholarships given yearly to past FYBO players. Dinner and prizes will immediately follow the golf, outdoors along the 10th fairway. We are counting on a lot of support from baseball parents, former players and local merchants this year. Please register at Sportsmanager. You can also purchase tickets or get sponsorship information from your coordinator, a board member or at the Fletcher Field snack stand. All players must be registered by May 5th. We can use your support in any way, donations are always accepted and help is always needed. If you have questions or want to help please email Mike Adiletto.
