WHAT YOU NEED FOR A HAPPY, HEALTHY AND SUCESSFUL SEASON
FYBO would like to remind all Players and Parents that all male players should wear
a metal, fiber, or plastic type of cup. For the safety of all players, it is also
recommended that players wear baseball pants or sweat pants to practice. Covering
the legs makes it easier and safer during drills involving sliding.
FYBO would also like to note that all Small Diamond Divisions have a rule that states
that all bats must be Little League Approved. Coaches are asked to enforce this.
For further clarification of what types of bats are approved for use please see the below:
Small Diamond (ages 7 through 12) Bat Rules:
To improve player safety and ensure consistency with new bat rules, Franklin Youth
Baseball will be following Little League bat requirements during our games. These
rules can be summarized as follows:
-
All bats must be Little League Approved. Coaches are asked to enforce this.
-
Little League has restrictions on the type of bat that is approved.
One of which is that bats must have a BPF (Bat Performance) of less
than 1.15. Be sure that the bat you are purchasing has this marking:
BPF 1.15 (or less) on the barrel or handle of the bat.
-
Composite bats are prohibited unless approved by Little League International.
For more information and list of approved bats please refer to the Little
League website and look under equipment and merchandise.
Big Diamond (ages 13 through 15) Bat Rules:
Over the past few years, the U.S. Babe Ruth organization, in conjunction with many
high school leagues, has refined the rules defining which bats are eligible for use
in games. To improve player safety and ensure consistency with these new rules,
Franklin Youth Baseball will be following these official rules during our games.
These rules can be summarized as follows:
-
Bats may not exceed 34" in length and the bat barrel may not exceed 2 5/8" in
diameter (i.e. standard sizes today)
-
All aluminum or wood bats meeting the size requirements above are allowed.
-
All bats that have a composite barrel must have a marking on the bat noting that
they are "BBCOR approved" or "BESR-ABI approved". These bats generally need to
have a drop rating of 3 or lower.
-
Drop Rating - Bats that are all aluminum or wood or aluminum with a
composite handle (only) meeting the below size requirements may have
any drop rating. Bats that have a composite barrel and a marking on
the bat noting that they are "BBCOR approved" or "BESR-ABI approved"
need to have a drop rating of 3 or lower.
