Bill Capen Memorial Golf Tournament

Every year the FYBO conducts a fundraising golf tournament. The tournament is named in memory of Bill Capen. Bill was a beloved friend and dedicated volunteer of the FYBO who lost his battle with cancer at a very young age.

All of the proceeds raised by the FYBO/Bill Capen Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament are used to provide funds for the FYBO/Bill Capen Scholarship Awards. Members of FYBO and members of the Capen family present scholarships every year to four graduating high school seniors who participated in the FYBO program and who are continuing their education by attending college during the fall of 2024. The scholarship awards now total $5,000 annually. All awards are paid for using the proceeds from the golf tournament. This year marks the 23rd year that the FYBO has presented scholarships to graduating high school seniors. To date FYBO has awarded over $60,000 in scholarships.

This year’s tournament is scheduled for Sunday August 11, 2024 at the Wentworth Hills Country Club. Every year FYBO seeks golfers, hole sponsors and raffle prize donations for their scholarship fundraiser. In the past, many businesses have sponsored a hole at a cost of $75 or donated a gift card for our raffle to be redeemed at their business. Each hole sponsor will have their business advertised on one of the 18 holes the day of the tournament.
